Businessman shot dead in Madhepura

A local businessman, Raja Kumar, was shot dead at his shop in Madhepura district ahead of Diwali. The alleged assailant, a neighboring potter named Shiwam Kumar, reportedly shot the victim at point-blank range. Police are investigating the motive and have assured the swift apprehension of the accused.

Madhepura: A local businessman was shot dead allegedly by a potter in Sonamukhi market under Ratwara outpost of Alamnagar police station in Madhepura district on Tuesday.The incident occurred when Raja Kumar (28), son of local cloth trader Ashok Das, was carrying out cleaning work at his shop ahead of Diwali.A potter in the neighbourhood, Shiwam Kumar, along with his brother, reached the victim’s shop and allegedly shot at his head from point blank range, said Raman Kumar, the younger brother of the victim. The local people rushed the victim to Alamnagar CHC, where the doctor declared him brought dead.On getting information, Alamnagar station house officer Kulwant Kumar and his Chausa counterpart Ravi Kumar Paswan, accompanied by a police force, reached the CHC. Police had to face wrath of the kin of the victim, who demanded immediate arrest of the assailant.Police had to struggle to make them agree to consign the body direct for postmortem. Police were yet to ascertain the reason behind the incident. “We are investigating the incident. The assailant will be nabbed soon,” said Uda-Kishunganj subdivisional police officer Abinash Kumar.
